acting list
Acting List is an Essential Tool for Actors. As an actor, one of the most important things you can do is keep an “acting list.” This is a list of all the scenes you’ve ever done, both in auditions and in performances.
Why is this important? Because it allows you to track your progress and see how far you’ve come. When you first start out, you’re likely to be pretty bad at acting. That’s okay! Everyone starts somewhere. But as you keep at it and do more and more scenes, you’ll start to improve.
By keeping an acting list, you can see just how much you’ve improved over time. Of course, an acting list is also helpful for another reason: it allows you to track your emotional progress. As you do more scenes, you’ll start to become more comfortable with intense emotions.
You’ll also start to learn how to control your emotions better, so that you can create believable characters. So what should you include on your acting list? First, list the name of the scene, the play or movie it’s from, and the date you did it. Then, give yourself a rating for each scene, from one to ten. One is the lowest, meaning you were really bad, and ten is the highest, meaning you were amazing. It’s also helpful to include some comments about each scene. What did you do well? What could you have done better?
What did you learn from the experience? Finally, don’t forget to track your audition scenes as well! Just because you didn’t get the part doesn’t mean the scene wasn’t valuable. In fact, audition scenes can be some of the most helpful, because they give you a chance to try out new techniques and see how they’re received. So go ahead and start keeping an acting list. It’s a great way to track your progress and see how far you’ve come!
