Self-Activating Your Own Emotions!

Self-Activating Emotions is a main job as an Actor. Actors who self-activate emotions leap themselves into depth for their acting. The Key to self-activation is immediately receiving the other actor even when you have a lot of emotions within yourself. Receiving is beyond listening for timing or a line cue. Determine the Emotional Range

Deciding what Emotional Range is intended for the scene work is key.

  1. Match the Emotional Range you can access to the scenes that you do
  2. If you need to choose a different scene, make that determination as early on as possible

If you determine an emotional range that you understand and can identify with, it will be easier for you to access. Determining an emotional range takes the ability to determine which emotions are most current within you.

Current Emotions are emotions that you can access remembrances of and understandings of.

The best emotional ranges you will be able to spend time with and have the freedom to express.

Activating that Emotional Range

When you self-activate your emotional range, you will need to literally spark your own emotional ignition!

The goal is not to be manipulative with the emotion, but honest with the emotion.

The goal of activation is to spark an internal desire to express a specific emotion. Once you spark that specific emotion you want to start the process of Interaction.

Activating the Emotion is deeper than thinking about a feeling.

A feeling is often fleeting, there one moment, not there the next. If you activate a feeling it may not show up in the interaction. So, during Emotional Self-Stimulation Technique invite in feelings, then be patient to allow the feelings to turn into deep feelings, then emotions.

Once the emotions within you are activated, they will tend to stay with you and close to you once activated.

Interacting with Others, Dialogue or Independent Doings!

Interacting with Others with an active emotion REQUIRES Receiving.

As early as possible with your activated emotion you want to receive the others emotion with your own activated spark!

Emotional Self-Stimulation technique requires you to be free with your emotional range to go in the direction of the scene work. The likely happening is that the emotional range will become part of the acting interaction.

Remember to be free to go in the direction of the experience of the interaction.

If you find the interaction is not in the desired Emotional Range and the emotion does not match the scene, then make adjustments to each Actor to find that desired range!
