Emotions are the chest-to-chest communications between Actors.
Emotions can also go from gut-to-gut responses.
Learning to put your own Activated Emotions into your acting takes training and practice. It can be a vital step to use an Activations Journal. In an Activations Journal you write down things that Emotionally Activate you. Both Imaginary and Real-Life situations that actually activate you can really help you as an Actor, Musician and Creator.
The skill of learning to put Activated Emotions into your acting is called by some Emotional Preparation.

The key to learning lines
Logical responses are often the starting point for many Actors to learn their lines. They figure out and work to memorize the lines studying the logic of the scene.

You want to aim for the ability to receive resonations. Someone says something to you, and you receive it, it goes a bit deeper or jostles inside you emotionally a bit.
Logic Answers without Emotional Expression
Logic Answers work best in comedies. Sometimes impromptu responses can come out of sharp logic. This of course can be very quick witted and add a lot to the production.
Lines in a script without Emotional undercurrents are quite boring. The dialogue of the text may be spoken, but none of the text carries any emotional weight.
